The Best Fall Activities in Nashville

Is there any better place to be than Nashville in the fall? The leaves are changing, the temperatures are finally cooling off (hello, 60 degrees and sunny weather!), and you can hear the roar of the crowd as the Nashville Predators hit the ice and skate their way to the playoffs this year (fingers crossed). There are also plenty of opportunities to explore all that the Middle Tennessee area has to offer – from pumpkin patches to musical events.

With no shortage of amazing autumnal activities, here are a few the whole family will love to join in on.

Go For A Hike

With cooler temps, the leaves start to change and the landscape in the region becomes a vibrant and exciting display of the changing of the seasons. The Middle Tennessee region has some of the best year-round hiking spots all within an hour or two from the city. Here are a few of our top picks:

Long Hunter State Park: Located in Mt. Juliet, Long Hunter State Park offers great walking trails for the beginner hiker to the more advanced. With stunning views of the lake and plenty of wildlife spotting, there is something for everyone. Make sure to take plenty of water.

Radnor Lake: Just a short drive from Nashville, Radnor Lake has a lot to offer – walking trails, beautiful scenery, and, of course, a lake! Whether you prefer to bike, jog, or walk with your furry friend, the nature area has it all. Take a moment or two and try to spot the turtles sitting on logs in the lake.

Bledsoe Creek State Park: Birdwatchers will love hiking the short trails at Bledsoe. Located just about 45 minutes from Nashville, the state park offers plenty of family-friendly walking trails and plenty of wildlife spotting opportunities.

Attend A Concert

Nashville is known as Music City for a reason and there is always something musical going on throughout town. While the weather is still warm enough you can easily enjoy an outdoor concert at various venues or stay warm and cozy at one of the many indoor venues. Make sure to be on the lookout for special holiday concerts as well this time of year. Here are a few venues worth checking out:

  • Ryman Auditorium
  • Bluebird Cafe
  • Bridgestone Arena
  • Mercy Lounge
  • The Basement East
  • The Blue Room
  • 3rd and Lindsley

Attend A Festival

While Nashville may be known for its variety of musical events, there are plenty of non-music events happening all throughout the fall as well. Some festivals are family-friendly while others are geared more towards the older crowd, there is always a wide variety to choose from. Here are a few of our favorites:

  • 2019 SipTN Nashville
  • Zoolumination: Chinese Festival of Lights
  • Southeastern International Film & Music Festival
  • 2019 Music City Yoga Festival
