Moving to Nashville? Welcome! Moving to a new area in Nashville? That’s exciting! At Fox Moving and Storage Nashville, we recommend getting to know your new neighborhood before you move. When you arrive in your new home, you’ll be more prepared and will know what to expect. Whether you’re moving locally or from outside the area, take some time to get to know your new Nashville neighborhood.

Music City

Nashville is known as the Music City but has so much more to offer its residents and visitors. The city’s many neighborhoods also feature eclectic dining options, shopping, parks, and family activities. Of course, there are also a number of clubs and honky tonks that feature a wide range of music.

Downtown

Nashville’s downtown neighborhood is thriving. Home to the famous Ryman Auditorium, which once housed the Grand Ole Opry, downtown features the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Frist Center for the Visual Arts, and, of course, the state capitol building. Downtown lies adjacent to the Cumberland River and a pedestrian bridge offers those walking to downtown a stunning panoramic view.

West End

Located next to Vanderbilt University, West End is one of Nashville’s higher end neighborhoods. The West End’s urban park features a life-size replica of Greece’s Parthenon, since Nashville has a reputation as being the “Athens of the South” because of its many universities.

Music Row

Between downtown and the West End is the area known as Music Row. This is the neighborhood most people associate with Nashville’s history, as it was the center of the recording industry. In fact, many of the homes in this neighborhood have been converted into recording studios. Music Row is located along tree-lined 16th and 17th Avenues.

SoBro

South of Broadway in downtown Nashville, the area known as SoBro is also a vibrant neighborhood full of music, restaurants, and great places to live. Walkable SoBro is trendy and highly developed. Music Mile, connecting downtown with Music Row, ends in SoBro.

East Nashville

A neighborhood often overlooked in Nashville lies on the east side. To the east of the Cumberland River are some of the city’s funkiest restaurants, bars, and shops. A growing area for musicians and artists, there are a number of innovative galleries and eateries located throughout East Nashville.

The Gulch

A thriving neighborhood that was once full of abandoned warehouses and factory buildings, the Gulch boasts luxury apartments and a variety of trendy restaurants and clubs. The Gulch is also home to The Station Inn, which has featured some of Nashville’s best live bluegrass music for more than 30 years. Just south of downtown, the Gulch is a LEED-certified community that offers many walkable opportunities for its residents and visitors.

Germantown

Another revitalized Nashville neighborhood lies northwest of downtown. Germantown now has some of Nashville’s most charming and vibrant landscapes but was once a run-down area of abandoned buildings. So named because it housed most of the city’s German residents, many of the homes that have been restored date back to the mid-19th century. Loft apartments and cozy coffee shops mix with traditional Southern and rustic Italian restaurants in Germantown.

Berry Hill

Funky is the best description for this neighborhood just south of downtown Nashville. The area beyond 8th Avenue South is residential as well as home to recording studios, restaurants, and independent shops. Berry Hill is technically its own city but is truly an essential and exciting neighborhood in the larger city of Nashville.
